FLU CLINICS 2021/22 🤧

Seasonal Flu Vaccination Programme 2021-2022

This year’s seasonal influenza vaccination programme is going to be delivered by the Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP).

Eligible patients will be sent letters from the beginning of October and this will have an appointment date, time and location for your vaccine.

If you're aged 16 years or older, and not in one of the eligible groups, you can get the vaccine in many high street pharmacies for a small fee.

For all flu enquiries, including finding out if you are eligible or how to get your flu vaccine, please check the following websites:-

www.fluvaxgrampian.com or www.nhsinform.scot/flu-vaccine

If your question cannot be answered there, you should call the National Helpline - 0800 030 8013 (available 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week) or the local flu helpline for Aberdeenshire - 0330 128 9919 (available 8:45am - 4:30pm)

If you are unable to attend the appointment offered, please call either of the numbers above - the practice will NOT have access to make or reschedule your flu appointment.

It is equally important to call either of these numbers and inform them if you do not wish to take up the invitation or you have already had the jab elsewhere this year.

WE WOULD ENCOURAGE EVERYONE WHO HAS RECEIVED AN INVITATION TO GET YOUR FLU VACCINE AS THIS IS PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT YEAR TO HAVE ONE AND WE MUST TRY TO PREVENT HIGH LEVELS OF INFLUENZA INFECTIONS ADDING MORE PRESSURE TO THE HEALTH SERVICE OVER THE TYPICALLY CHALLENGING WINTER MONTHS WHILE IT CONTINUES TO BATTLE THE IMPACT OF COVID-19.

Please keep an eye on this page (alfordmedicalpractice.co.uk), the Practice Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/alfordmedicalpractice/) for up to date information.

Travel Vaccinations - Service not available at the surgery during COVID-19global air travel

We are not funded to provide a dedicated travel service, however, we are happy to administer travel vaccinations that are available on the NHS.  Written advice must be sought from a professional Travel Adviser before booking an appointment for NHS vaccinations at the practice.

We can provide information on how to access travel services and print off a list of patients previous vaccination which can be presented to a Private travel clinic of your choice or pharmacy who provides Travel immunisation services.

You need to do this at least 8 weeks prior to travel as some immunisations need to be given 4 weeks before travel and we do need adequate time to arrange your vaccination regime and organise suitable appointments.

Please ask the Travel Adviser to provide written confirmation of any NHS vaccination requirements to ensure that we give you everything you require.

If your travel plans are related to employment, then it is advisable that you contact your employers' Occupational Health Service to arrange.

For all travel inquiries we suggest you look at the following excellent website www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk
